OCAT 2022 RESIDENCY - Body Autonomy and Urban Acceleration 

In the narrow urban villages of Shenzhen and the vast futuristic architectural landscapes, I intervene the space through three different behaviours: walking, lying down, and climbing. This project is attempting to explore the mutual relationship between the body and the rapidly changing urban space through body performance. It describes how bodily perception is influenced by social and ideological changes. My body appears to be devoured, submerged, and misplaced by the urban space.

在深圳狭窄的城中村地区和广阔的未来主义建筑景观中，我使三种不同的行为——行走，俯卧，攀爬与城市空间相遇。身体作为一个微小的个体出现，被城市空间吞噬、淹没、错位。该项目围绕身体在时间和空间上的物理性，试图探讨身体与快速变迁的城市空间的相互关系。

When body Meets Shuiwei Urban Village 2

"When Body Meets Shuiwei Urban Village" is a series of body-squeezing interventions set in the public spaces of a residential area in Shenzhen. The images depict me squeezing my body between two buildings. This architectural phenomenon stems from Shenzhen's previous land policies, where farmers maximized land usage, resulting in narrow gaps between many buildings, often only wide enough for air to pass through. Urban villages in Shenzhen represent a typical urban ecosystem and are the preferred residential community for migrant workers due to the more affordable housing options available in the same location. However, these spaces often neglect the body's basic needs for sunlight and adequate space. As a consequence of urbanization and the constant movement of the labour force, the experience of bodily suppression has become an almost universal memory among migrant workers.

“当身体与水围城中村相遇”是在深圳一个居住区的公共空间中进行的一系列身体挤压干预活动。这些照片描绘了我挤在两座建筑物之间的身体。在城中村许多建筑物之间的间距很窄，通常只够空气通过。我用不同的身体姿势，去试探建筑物之间的距离。
