Parallel 上上下下

Parallel" is a single-channel video installation. The first version was created in 2018, and in 2023, I re-edited the second version. Due to my interest in urban rhythms and pace, I always capture the motion of escalators. The uniform and rhythmic up and down create an artificial landscape. the video shows the movement of escalators from an overhead perspective, which I have filmed in various cities, including Rotterdam, Berlin, Paris, London, Tokyo, Shenzhen etc. I project the movement of escalators onto a wall in a staircase, disrupting the original space with this undulating dynamic. When viewers enter this space, they encounter the artwork by chance and may even become a part of it. The essence of this video work lies not in narration but in the reconstruction of spatial and viewing relationships.

“上上下下”是一个单通道视频装置。由于我对城市节奏和节奏的兴趣，我总是捕捉自动扶梯的运动。均匀而有节奏的上下创造了一个人工景观。这段视频从俯视的角度展示了自动扶梯的运动。我将自动扶梯的运动投射到楼梯的墙上，用这种运动的动态打破了原有的空间。当观众进入这个空间时，他们偶然遇到了艺术品，甚至可能成为它的一部分。这个录像作品的本质不在于叙事，而在于节奏，空间关系和观看关系的重构。
